Kèr Vuvdè (/vuv/ /dɛ/ [meal] [fat; big]) is a subtropical Village located in Doz̄ugima Kingdom, Drièfèkē Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Kèr Vuvdè is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Vuvdè was founded by Rhiathmaahr Price, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Vuvdè has a yearly average temperature of 26°C (78°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Kèr Vuvdè receives an average of 135 cm/y (53 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Kèr Vuvdè covers an area of nearly 3 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 7578 m (-18087 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Vuvdè was founded durring the late 16th century in summer of the year 1485, by Rhiathmaahr Price. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Rhiathmaahr Price.

Kèr Vuvdè was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Vuvdè is no diffrent. The village's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kèr Vuvdè is buildings are arranged arround a network of broad worn bedrock streets which form a diagonal shaped grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The village resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. Kèr Vuvdè's robustly designed timber walls are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

The village shows nothing out of the ordinary, at first glance. Then you start to notice all the small things. Each window has seven iron nails pounded into the sill. Every door has a sprig of holly overhead. Every well is branded with purity seals and runes to ward the contents. Everyone is carrying a small charm for safety or fortune, be it a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, or other little totems.

Civic Infrastructure

Kèr Vuvdè has a Guild of Nurses, which is tasked with caring for the elderly and infirm in accordance with local ordinances, religious values, and customs.

Kèr Vuvdè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kèr Vuvdè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kèr Vuvdè has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Kèr Vuvdè has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Vuvdè's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is skipped in Kèr Vuvdè.

The Herd Animal, Scythe Horn near Kèr Vuvdè are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Kèr Vuvdè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 2 via singing.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. Kèr Vuvdè has been cursed with some blight that makes life difficult, albeit not impossible. An offended sorcerer's vengeful Working, an outraged god's wrath, a local distortion of the Legacy, or a simple history of bad feng shui in the area may have brought the curse about. I(devise not only the curse, but the reason why the locals haven't left for better lands).

Kèr Vuvdè is known for its odd use of round-a-bouts, small ring roads used in place of intersections.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century a most peculiar disaster struck Kèr Vuvdè, causing great chunks of ice to fall from the sky. Kèr Vuvdè lost 200 people, 297 livestock, and 52 buildings in the disaster.. The ice rain is generally remembered as the Grief Rain.
